BLOODSAFE- Iron supplementation and nutritional counselling
interventions to improve availability and safety of blood in Ghana - a
Type I Pragmatic effectiveness - implementation hybrid trial
A mixed-methods study involving a randomized controlled trial among
donors deferred for low haemoglobin within the catchment areas of the
Southern Zonal Blood Centre in Ghana to evaluate the effectiveness and
safety of six months of daily low dose iron supplementation (65mg
elemental iron) compared to current standard of care to increase
successful donation during 12-months follow-up. The UG3/UH3 BLIS studies
are grounded in the RE-AIM implementation science framework.
